How to Color Carnage Coloring Pages — Color Guide
Creating the deep red color of Carnage is one of the most challenging Marvel characters to color because the symbiote has great depth and texture — but only if the red color is handled correctly. Flat common red looks wrong. The Carnage symbiote is deep, bright, dark, and layered.
The Symbiote Deep Red
The base color is a deep crimson, not fire-engine red. First use Crayola “Red” as your mid-tone, then “Maroon” or “Brick Red” to add depth in the shadow areas — under the jaw, between tendrils, in the deepest recesses. Go near-black in the absolute deepest points where tendrils meet the body. The irregular black webbing pattern is the most difficult to handle across the surface is not random — it forms vein-like lines across the red.
Eyes and Teeth
Both teeth and eyes are pure white with no shading or detail. The hollow teardrop white eyes against the arerk red symbiote face is the single most recognisable Carnage image.
Tendrils
Each tendril is darkest at the tip and slightly lighter closer to the body. Apply a base red color, then shade the underside of each tendril darker, leaving the top edge slightly lighter. Tendril tips should be near maroon-black. This gradient color makes the tendrils look wavy and alive rather than flat.
6 Carnage Facts Worth Knowing
- Carnage is actually Venom’s offspring. While Eddie Brock was in prison with Cletus Kasady, the Venom symbiote reproduced asexually and left a child behind. That offspring bonded with Kasady through his bloodstream — not his skin like Venom did — making them permanently merged and impossible to separate.
- Carnage evolved past Venom’s weaknesses. Fire and sonic frequencies reliably weaken Venom. Because Carnage bonded at the blood level, the symbiote evolved to resist both. The only things that reliably damage Carnage’s symbiote are extreme sonics or intense heat — and even then Carnage recovers far faster.
- Maximum Carnage was 14 comics and a legendary video game. In 1993, Carnage assembled Shriek, Demogoblin, Doppelganger, and Carrion into a murder spree across New York. Spider-Man recruited Venom, Captain America, Black Cat, and Firestar to stop them. The storyline became a Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis beat-em-up still considered one of the best Marvel games of the 90s.
- Sentry tore Carnage in half and threw the pieces into the sun. During New Avengers, the Sentry literally ripped Carnage apart mid-air and hurled both halves into space toward the sun. Carnage survived and returned. This single moment established just how difficult Carnage is to permanently stop.
- Wolverine’s claws cannot keep up with Carnage’s regeneration. Every tendril Wolverine cuts immediately regrows. The only way to hurt Carnage is to target Kasady’s physical body — which the symbiote constantly protects. Their fights are consistently the most brutal in Marvel history and almost always end without a clear winner.
- Eddie Brock became Carnage in 2023. After Cletus Kasady’s death, the Carnage symbiote bonded with Eddie Brock — the original Venom host. A man with Venom’s moral code trapped inside Carnage’s amoral symbiote. The internal conflict drove the Eddie Brock: Carnage series and carried into the Death Spiral crossover in 2026.
